o.O That sounds interesting. How do you use decimal points for it?

i dont think i can explain but i use decimal point addition to remember where a, u, and o are after the decimal, and ky/hy/sh are before it

Ah, ok. That makes sense, I guess. I simply saw those as just each hiragana from the い-vowel column + the small ya/yu/yo, with the two sounds merged together as one. The "i" vowel sound ends up getting cancelled out by the "y" semivowel once merged.

    k│き ki + ゃ ya → きゃ kiya ⇨ kya
    g│ぎ gi + ゃ ya → ぎゃ giya ⇨ gya
    s│し si(shi) + ゃ ya → しゃ siya(shiya) ⇨ sya(sha)
    z│じ zi(ji) + ゃ ya → じゃ ziya(jiya) ⇨ zya(jya/ja)
    t│ち ti(chi) + ゃ ya → ちゃ tiya(chiya) ⇨ tya(cha)
    d│ぢ di(ji) + ゃ ya → ぢゃ diya(jiya) ⇨ dya(jya/ja)
    n│に ni + ゃ ya → にゃ niya ⇨ nya
    h│ひ hi + ゃ ya → ひゃ hiya ⇨ hya
    b│び bi + ゃ ya → びゃ biya ⇨ bya
    p│ぴ pi + ゃ ya → ぴゃ piya ⇨ pya
    m│み mi + ゃ ya → みゃ miya ⇨ mya
    r│り ri + ゃ ya → りゃ riya ⇨ rya

No need to spend time learning any of the combinations individually. Also, since chy- would sound the same as ch-, shy- as sh-, and jy- as j-, therefore there isn't really any need for the "y" to be written in any of these. Like ち(chi)+ゃ(ya) written as "chya" would be very strange when "cha" is already able to spell the same sound.

So, only really need to focus on memorising the 47 basic single hiragana. The extra stuff like these combined sounds (and the voiced sounds with ゛ and ゜voicing markers) you can just leave to logic instead. ^^

I guess I did actually do something similar to what you are doing, but for grammar instead. Back when I first made an effort to learn grammar, I use decimal points (periods) to separate different parts of verbs and their conjugation forms. Stuff like this:

    yorosi.ku o-nega.i s.i-mas.u
    tabe-mas.e-n des.i-ta

I think, in the end, it just made things more confusing though, lol. :D
