when i do vocab exercises with my android mobile gears there are now regularily popping up nasty naggy advertising pages.. any tips or tricks to keep them away?

Really? There aren't even any adverts in the lessons, so it shouldn't be because of this site that you are getting pop-up adverts. I just tried doing a lesson on my Android phone on a different account, but I didn't see any adverts or pop-ups.
I'd be a little bit worried your phone has an adware infection, probably from an app you've recently downloaded. ^^;
