Hey guys, I've made a video on how to practice reading Japanese with visual novels:

Check it out if you are interested, that's the method I mainly use. It took me all day to edit it until I was somewhat satisfied.

Yeah, it took all day today, I'm not used to editing, though I've done it before for family videos. I'm planing to make one like this one but with light novels instead. I need to do some research first to see if something changed in the past year.

Just gonna bump this to the top and go to sleep. I spent a good part of today editing 9 minutes of footage and recording my voice over and over again. I need more practice. I need more sleep. おやすみなさい。

Well good morning everyone, the shameless self promotion continues. Tell me if it's obnoxious and I'll stop, otherwise I'll continue until tomorrow morning (GMT +2).

Fun fact: For 30 seconds of recorded audio I had to take countless retakes since my pronunciation sucks and edit the resulting ~4 minute audio file down.

Bretty good. It has been 4 years since I read a VN (Last one I read was Muv Luv Alternative and boy it was a wild ride). Been wanting to read Kara no Shoujo and Utawarerumono for a while now. Lets see how it goes with this setup.

    Thanks.

Man, you sure picked a hard one, Muv Luv quite a few things that the program can't pick up. I played Kara no Shoujo and wasn't able to finish it (reached 3 bad endings and quit, though I enjoyed it).

And for the love of God, don't get spoiled on Utawarerumono. If you visit it's vndb page then ignore everything. This is one of the few visual novels that I didn't know anything about before playing and I enjoyed it greatly. In fact, it's a fucking masterpiece in my mind.

There's a problem with which version of it to play. I played the English fan translated version that has the Japanese voices from the PS2 version (the only voiced version) and it added a lot to the game. If you want to enjoy it, just go with the voiced version. Or try to get the Japanese PS2 version.
