Is there a way to toggle the readings when doing the vocabulary quiz? It would be more rewarding to test the ability to read the kanji while doing the vocab tests. A keyboard shortcut that would toggle the readings would be great. The same would be fantastic for answering the questions, using the key from 1 through 4 would greatly reduce the mouse abuse I have to do at the moment :P

    Don't think there is. I know that mog86uk wrote himself a userscript that hides the four answer choices and replaces them with a text box and you have to answer by typing.

    So it's possible to add new functionality to the site (to your view of it, at least), you just have to know how to code. I installed a userscript from mog86uk that saves the practice settings that also gives you a パニック button that let's you skip a kanji if you don't know it, useful if you want to keep your combo but I barely use it since I lose my combo anyways.

    And before you ask, no, I can't write it for you since my JavaScript knowledge is pretty basic. I really need to get back to learning that.

    I've actually made something that does exactly what you want. This one's not a userscript but simply a userstyle. If you are using Chrome, Opera, Firefox, or Safari, get the userstyle extension called "Stylish".
    https://userstyles.org/

    Then, with that Stylish extension installed, simply go on any Vocabulary quiz, click the Stylish button, and click "Find more styles for this site.". You should see the userstyle I made:

    "JCJP Vocab Test Yomigana Disabler (mog86uk)" ^^

    Oh wait, I should have read your full post... Well, that userstyle covers your first two sentences at least. ^^;

    Hi guys, thanks for the feedback. I just wanted to check that I'm not missing any features.

    I went ahead and implemented a script for GreaseMonkey that covers my needs. If anyone else wants it, here it is: https://gist.github.com/slash3r/d4483d7d9a1b2e40aa2dfee4a3a3c892 (bare in mind that I don't usually code in JavaScript, so the code quality might not be top-notch)

    @mog86uk: I've borrowed your idea on how to "hide" the readings, hope you don't mind m(_ _)m

    Forgot to write a little usage guide:
    - press 's' to toggle the kanji readings (will work only where applicable)
    - press '1', '2', '3' or '4' to select the corespondent answer

    @slash3r, Nice job! I've already made similar things to that, but I gave yours a try to see what it's like.

    However I notice that it doesn't hide the readings by default, and it also reverts back to showing the reading again on every new question? It doesn't seem too useful if it works like this. Would be much more useful if the 's' key toggled the style change in the global CSS.

    I didn't use the userscript I made for this much, because my brain kept hitting wrong keys very frequently. Hopefully you don't experience this problem too much though. ^^
