- Microsoft has "Microsoft IME" for it. You just need to install japanese language to your computerNovember 15, 2016 at 3:32am

↑Easier link for getting Google Japanese Input. The page is in English. ^^
Any physical keyboard will do; whatever laptop keyboard you have is fine. You type Japanese in romaji using the alphabet keys, and a software like Google Japanese Input turns the romaji into Japanese characters automatically. This is the same way Japanese people themselves type on their computers.
If you have Windows 8, 8.1, or 10, you might instead like to use the Microsoft Japanese IME that comes with Windows. If you have Windows 7, Vista, XP,... these only have an older version of Microsoft Japanese IME. Definitely get that Google one if you have one of those older operating systems. I still prefer using Google even on Windows 10 though.November 15, 2016 at 3:32am - Thanks, mog86uk! I didn't really search for a better one. I did have some problems with Windows IME~November 15, 2016 at 3:37am
