how is this translated as "that looks nice"? doesn't janai negate ii? am i missing something?

    typically じゃない is used as a negative marker. But in informal speech/slang じゃない has a second meaning of "isn't it." So this sentence comes to mean "Isn't that nice or That's nice, isn't it? or even That should work shouldn't it (maybe when picking out something for a particular task.)"
