i hate when desu yo is spelled deshou in romaji.
when i think deshou i think of a word like ikimashou or ikou which means let's run.

let's go*- hashiru is run. don't know why i confused that with iku
deshou is a separate word ^^;
deshou is to darou what ikimashou is to ikou
"desu yo" = です + the particle よ
"de aru yo" = である + the particle よ
↳ sound change → だよ "da yo"
"deshou" = でせ (irrealis base of です) + the auxiliary verb う
"darou" = であら (irrealis base of である) + the auxiliary verb う
でせう "deseu"
↳ sound change → でしょう "deshou"
であらう "de arau"
↳ sound change → であろう "de arou"
↳ sound change → だろう "darou"- I just hate romaji full stop. :P
- i don't even know what that means mog and i've been learning for quite a while o_o

- so how do you know if someone is saying desu yo or deshou?
sounds similar
- actually sometimes they'll even emphasize the U and it'll sound more like dessuyo
