How are you guys learning kanji?

I just go through the vocab lessons and write the kanji there. I could care less about radicals, readings, etc. I'm more concerned on reading, writing, and watching Japanese than being tested. It works for me, as sometimes the same kanji comes up again and I already know how to write it.

I think it's called learning kanji through vocabulary.

I went through a thorough foundation of the on/kun readings and radicals before making a real effort at reading. It made trying to read native level material less of a headache for me.

I try to learn Kanji as I'm learning Vocab to help drill meanings into my head

Have fun trying to memorise all the bunches of seemingly random looking brush strokes that are kanji—remembering two thousand of them with some having over 20 strokes—without learning radicals... Sounds like a good way to make learning kanji even more of a challenge than it already is. I like tough challenges too, but not doing that one. :P

Yeah Radicals are pretty important. If you wanna learn to read you should still look into Radicals, learning what they are is pretty helpful in learning the meaning of unfamiliar Kanji. There's a couple of Kanji I can't remember the exact meaning of but I can kinda figure it out from a Radical in it. Think of it like context clues?

I learn it in two ways. 1st way by learning new vocabulary. 2nd way by learning via JouyouKanji (常用漢字) list.
