Yo, I was wondering if anyone could give me a detailed explanation of what から means and how it is used (like in the phrase 私は学校から来た).

    私は学校から来た = I came from school.

    私は = I [=topic]
    学校 = school [noun]
    から = from [particle]
    来た = came [verb - past tense]

    学校から = from school

    This から is a case particle meaning 'from'.
    {noun} + から = 'from {noun}' / 'out of {noun}'
    {verb} + から = 'after {verb}'
    - example: 食べてから = after eating

    Another から is the conjunctive particle meaning 'because', but that's only used after verbs and adjectives.
    - {A} から {B} = because {A}, {B}.

    Actually, it's probably better to think of から as just one particle, with a single meaning...
    It's just 'from' but in a much more general sense than in English.

    from school
    from(/after) eating
    from(/because) {A}, {B}
