    これは答え何? セルフ〜 の「〜」は必要? 言わないよ。笑 セルフサービスは使うけど。

セルフ〜 is a prefix, like self-made. The Japanese word by itself has two kanji characters.

Except that the katakana word 「セルフ」 doesn't seem to be listed as a prefix in dictionaries; it is listed as a noun. There are a very small handful of katakana words which begin with セルフ though, such as セルフサービス like mogmog pointed out, or セルフイメージ, but I don't think this makes セルフ a prefix.

自【じ】is a prefix meaning 'self-' however...

Yes, I agree. I think the word "セルフ" in Japanese is used as a noun, and it also has an adjective function. We never use it by itself.
A few people can say セルフ as an abbreviation for セルフサービス in a situation of a restaurant.

Actually, I recognize the word セルフ◯◯ as one noun in Japanese.
