- The price vs content makes it almost a scam.August 17, 2014 at 12:11am
- It won't do any harm of course. I try to try get learn from everywhere. The Livemocha website was teamed up with Rosetta, but Livemocha is free last time I checked (although not been on it since before they incorporated Rosetta). www.livemocha.com
If you have it on torrent, just add it to your daily list and spend 15 minutes on it or something, but generally, just find your own way. Time, ability, and natural learning method kind of make learning different for everyone.August 17, 2014 at 12:16am - In terms of what you learn you'll be learning things at a ridiculously slow pace. rosetta stone is completely set on only exposing you to one new thing at a time when in reality thats a terrible way to go because having exposure to multiple things over a shorter period of time will help more because it will add to your "passive knowledge", which over time will get better.August 17, 2014 at 2:06am
- I used Live Mocha a long time ago and it was so-so, and recently someone got me 1-3 of Japanese of Rosetta stone but I've yet to use it. I heard it's really only good for listening practice, as it goes at a very slow pace as Sloppyninja has mentioned.
Unless someone gives it to you for free or very, very cheap (my friend got all 3 for $20) I wouldn't get it. There are other cheaper, better options out there.August 17, 2014 at 5:02am - I was thinking about getting it as well until I watched these two youtube videos:

I watched a few more reviews and I does not seem to be worth the money and not be working as well as they promise.August 17, 2014 at 5:16am - it*

Rosetta stone only works if you're leaving for a trip to mexico in a month and need SOMETHING to get you involved in the language. Its not going to help you understand and truly learn how the language works.August 17, 2014 at 6:54am
- if you can get it for free, such as through a library or something, it might be worth trying out. but it's enormously expensive. you could almost take a trip to japan and spend a week in japan for the same price as rosetta stone, which would be 1000x more effective for you.August 17, 2014 at 4:13pm
- I got this program for free but by reading your comments i don't think i will use it very much.I am going to continue studying genki books and using this site wich has been great so far.Thank you.August 17, 2014 at 4:14pm
- I remember I did learn some new words from it when I used it (quite a long time ago), so if it's free, 10 or 15 minutes a day isn't a big ask, but after months it adds up. But I wouldn't consider Rosetta a permanent thing... do it, then move onto something else with that 10-15 minutes.August 17, 2014 at 9:03pm
