Does anyone have a trick for memorizing kanji, or at least make it some what easier to learn? I'm an english speaker trying to learn japanese from scratch.

    so far i'm the same, but best i guess would be write the kanji over and over well saying it, then repeating what it means, here's one way to try

    Thanks I'll give that a try, but do you also know what the smaller symbols on top of the kanji characters mean?

    it's how to pronounce the kanji in hiragana

    also writing the kanji then using that kanji in vocab helps a lot. That's the only way I could learn.

    about kanji, i suggest to try the extremely simple ones first, then it would be easier to link the words, because similar symbols in kanji words means they are related in meangings

    Not everyone learns the same way and this is where problems stem from. If you are a visual learner ( like to learn from games and pictures, instead of notes and lectures ) I would suggest Kanji Mnemonics.
