Does anyone know the difference between Hiragana and katakana?

    Hirigana is used for mainly native Japanese words, while Katakana is used mainly for foreign words, or for certain names or titles for things to show emphasis. Thats a very short melted down explanation of it for the most part, but im sure you can get a basic grasp of it that way.

    Hiragana is used for native words and a lot of attachments on verb stems that add meaning to verbs. Katakana is used for foreign words, native words, emphasis, certain characters in words for emphasis, and for no reason at all. You may as well just remember hiragana as the primary kana and katakana as the secondary.
