So It seams that Japanese people eat with their chopsticks in their right hand, what is one to do if you are left handed? Is it considered rude to eat with your left hand? if so what is the reason?

I think it's like just eating with a fork with your right hand. I've never heard of it being rude.

I think I heard that you should always eat with your right hand, whether you're left handed or not

No, that's incorrect. The table should always be set for right handed people - as in the chopsticks would be thick side right, thin side left, but there is no problem with eating left-handed. There may have been in the past, but remember, there used to be an issue with being left-handed in most countries.

Thank you arachkid, I would to ask you if you have lived in Japan? If so could I add you? I need people who know all about the Japanese way. I need accurate information before I eventually move to Japan.

Add me? Sure, but I generally post on the main wall, so I'm not sure what that does, go ahead. I've been living here for about 6 years, so by all means. I don't tend to go with the flow on everything Japanese, but I know what the flow is... :P
