Is it just my headphones don't like speaking Japanese any more or is the sound broken?

P.S. I feel so bad pointing out all the mistakes...

Nothing wrong with the sound for me (on the Practice feature). I checked this on both Chrome or Firefox (on a PC with Windows).

Do you still have the problem? Probably need to be more specific about which part of the site the sound isn't working for (or all of it). And which web browser? computer, tablet, phone? etc.

Also, do you mean the play icons? or do you mean when you've ticked the "autoplay sound" it doesn't play automatically?

I'm guessing it might just have been a temporary problem, either with something on your device or with the site itself, and that the sound is probably working again for you now anyway?

I have nothing to do with the development or anything on this site, just that I have a difficulty with reading really vague descriptions of problems. :P

Chrome on a PC and neither autoplay nor the manual button work :( Discovered 16th April this year and still not working 18th April.

Chrome is my default browser. I don't normally use the audio on this site, but it's working fine everywhere for me right now.

    - Practice: question autoplay sound works, question play button works, answer play button works.
    - Vocabulary lessson: lesson play button works, test play button works.
    - Kana lessons: lesson play button works.
    - Readings: Vocabulary list play button works.
    - Notes: Note play button works.
    - Topics: play button works.
    - Dictionary: play button works.

I tested all of those within the last 5 minutes, on Chrome (latest version, no add-ons or special plugins installed) on Windows 10.

The only thing I did notice is that the sound has been removed from a few other features where it used to exist. I hadn't noticed these changes before. I think some of them are very recent modifications:
    - Kana lessons: hiragana test no longer has a play button or autoplay, katakana test no longer has a play button or autoplay.
    - Readings: quiz no longer has a play button or autoplay.

I just noticed that myself. I really liked being able to hear what it sounded like. Going make it quite a bit harder to learn :(

Oh. Ah. Hmm. Windows 10. I am on Windows 7 (32-bit). Would that be relevant/likely to affect it (I gave up learning HTML. Javascript is my home :D)?

It really isn't going to make a difference which version of Windows you are using. I don't personally understand why you like hearing the sound anyway. Half of the time the reading the audio uses is incorrect, and it's only a computerised voice.

But anyway... It's still working perfectly fine for me. Just checked again before posting.

The best advice I can give is to try deleting your cache.

This may well fix it. The other thing is to check if any new plugins or extensions have been installed which may be interfering.
    chrome://plugins/
    chrome://extensions/

The site itself must be okay if I'm still able to hear the sound. I'm surprised two of you are having this same problem, but if the site code was modified recently, then many peoples browsers could be loading the site with cached files on their system instead of the up-to-date content. Idk though. ^^

I thought maybe I should try deleting my cache, in case maybe having older cached files might be why it is working for me but not for you guys.

Closed JCJP tab. Deleted cache. Disabled all the plugins in the list. Disabled all the extensions in the list. Closed and re-opened Chrome. Logged in to JCJP. Navigated to the Practice page. Sound is working perfectly fine still. ^^

Sorry, I meant the sounds they removed. From hiragana and katakana. If they were pronounced wrong as you say I can understand why they removed them.
I thought they did so to help with the site lag spikes.

@Pyrdain, Ah, okay. There was nothing wrong with the pronunciation of the sounds used in the kana tests. The sounds are all still available to listen to in the lessons. What I meant by the sounds using incorrect readings is for words containing kanji. Kanji have multiple ways of being read, and the sounds often use a reading of the kanji different to what it should be for many words.

I'm almost 100% certain the reason the sound was removed in the kana tests has nothing to do with lag spikes. The change was completely unannounced though, so I'm not sure what Beeant's reason for changing it is. It may even have been removed accidentally!

If I had to guess why the sounds are gone in the kana tests, I'd guess that Beeant thought they made the tests too easy and maybe seems a little bit like cheating. I don't know if this is the actual reason at all though.

If you have strong feelings on wanting the sounds to be put back in the kana tests, then it would probably be a good idea to post a message on Beeant's feed asking about it. Should probably ask about whether he knows that the sounds are gone from the kana tests; if so, ask why he decided to remove the sounds; and mention why you think it would be better if they were put back. Maybe Beeant will change it back / fix it. ^^
