I have a question about grammar, about splitting sentences:

my guide splits 日本語は難しいのに、楽しい。
"Despite japanese being hard, it's fun"

into 日本語は難しいのに。 なのに、楽しい。
"Despite japanese being hard. Despite (that), (it's) fun."

The repetition of "despite" feels weird, is that correct?

Is it wrong if I write this instead:
日本語は難しい。 なのに、楽しい。
"Japanese is hard. Despite (that), (it's) fun."
