Yes. You need 170000 exp to reach it.

Nice! I've got a goal in life now)

There is no level 7. Supposedly there will be one some day, but there definitely isn't at the moment. If there were, the highest ranked users in the rankings wouldn't all be level 6 with several million EXP. :P

    Oh, whoops.

    Derp.

that's sad - I got addicted to points and levels system =^_^=

Yeah, the points and level system is one of the cool things about this site. It's a nice extra bit of motivation to keep you from slacking off.

However, things aren't so great later on, because you don't receive EXP on any questions you've answered correctly over 29 times. Eventually you reach the point that some of us users have reached where we can't earn EXP on ANY practice questions at all, but can only earn minus EXP if we get them wrong! The site gets extremely dry when you reach this stage.

There are only 3209 Practice questions in total. If you answer just over 100 questions a day, you can answer that many in a month. 29 months later you wouldn't have any questions left to earn EXP on. If instead you answer say 500 questions a day, like some users do, this can happen a lot quicker.

I hope some day the EXP system gets looked into again. The EXP and level systems used to be one of the top priority aspects of the site, but sadly there seems to be very little interest in its importance anymore. It is literally impossible for any new user to reach rank 1 due to previous EXP system changes over the years...

Sorry. I try to stay positive, but I'm probably just jealous that I can't join in the EXP fun with everyone else anymore (not without creating new accounts). The EXP system should still be fun for you guys for a long while yet. Have fun. ^^

may be you should address the site's developer with this issue - it is really sad that only beginners can have all the fun

So why is there a limit to how much exp you can learn on a single item?
  • mog86uk
I think the original intention behind the limit was to prevent people from gaining EXP who were through cheating by answering the same question over and over again.

However I think the bug which people were able to exploit to repeat the same question was fixed a long time ago, but the limit remains. Now the limit only penalises regular users and ruins the competative aspect of the rankings.

I don't know if it was ever found out whether any users definitely were sad enough to be cheating in this way on a site for learning a foreign language. As far as I know, no scores were reduced or accounts deleted or anything like that.

Whatever advantages those users could have gained through this cheat, as no user earned an insane amount of exp. All the top rank people are regular hard-working users as far as I'm aware. I have earned something like 250k EXP in one day before.

Check out the attendance graph on this account I made a few months ago and how much EXP I reached in that short time without needing cheats. Hover over Feb 12th on the graph, lol. :D

Supposedly because you know it well eventually - I have a word that repeats very often (every 20 or 30 words may be), with 0 points for it - I don't know why it keeps showing up
  • mog86uk
Yeah, if you answer a question wrong, it focusses too much on the mistake you made and keeps forcing you to answer it again to learn from your mistake.

On the first day I made the account I mentioned earlier, I answered 4,580 questions and earned 350k EXP. That was with Practice set to its default settings (other than having "show kana" turned off). I answered only 4 questions wrong, and one those questions I'd answered wrong ended up at "54 correct : 1 wrong" at the end of the very first day I created that account!!!!

    I think it goes over-the-top with forcing you to repeat questions you get wrong if you normally answer everything correct. If you've only made a few mistakes, it focusses in too heavily on those few questions. It adds to the annoyance of the 29 answer limit if the site itself is forcing you to repeat the questions that you're tired of repeating. ^^;
