I think it says "counter for ___"? This is "counter" as in counting the number of how many there are of something, not any of the several other various meanings of that English word.
If you haven't heard of Japanese counter yet, you'll now wish you never had to find out that they exist. :P
Basically, to say the number of how many dogs or cars or pencils or anything else, you can't just say "いち" or "に" or "さん". You need to say a "counter word" after the number, and there are MANY different counter words for each different type of thing you are counting... Memorising counters and which is one is correct to use in each situation is one of the bigger things people learning Japanese often dread. XD
