Been five years since that horrific tragic day already? I'm expecting the phrase 大震災 or 東日本大震災 will be mentioned quite a bit on the radio while I'm at work today. Very sad anniversary, remembering the thousands and thousands of lives lost so suddenly on that one day.

I won't forget that day and the following weeks. Sad and frightening.

A lot of foreigners left Japan after that happened, didn't they? Maybe this site wouldn't even still be here right now if you had left too? So well done for not doing the same and for sticking with Japan. ^^

I remember watching the events almost live on the news on TV. It is probably the most tragic thing I have ever watched taking place.

I used to play Final Fantasy 11 (the MMORPG) pretty heavily for a few years until that day. The servers for the game are global and are all based in Japan, with players around the world together on the same servers. They voluntarily took all the servers down for over a week to do their part in helping with the nationwide efforts to try to avoid a power shortage by conserving electricity as much as possible. I virtually stopped playing as I found it hard to ever get back into the game after watching the tragic events of that day. Maybe not rational at all but it didn't feel right, and I carried on paying subscription for over a year because I didn't want cancelling my subscription to be how I responded to the tragedy...

And very soon after that I made my account on JCJP. I might not have ever registered on this site if I had carried on being addicted to playing FFXI. ^^
