I just came across this sentence「兄弟はいるか。」which had the following two English translations written… - Feed Post by mog86uk

I just came across this sentence「兄弟はいるか。」which had the following two English translations written underneath it:
・1. "Do you have any brothers?"
・2. "My brothers are dolphins."

p.s. いるか (海豚) = "dolphin". :D

    I love how dolphin is "Sea pig" in Japanese. Also if you have ever heard of a manatee or dugong they have the secondary name of sea cow in English and it literally is sea cow in Japanese 海牛.

    @shirokitsune, That's pretty neat. I notice also that seahorse in Japanese is 海馬, not surprisingly.

    But, on the other hand, sea lion is 海獺 (sea otter) rather than something like 海獅. Even though it's clearly an aquatic lion, not an otter... :P
