Okay so I am trying to be able to read and write in Japanese and since I don't want to use Google Translate to write phonetically what I want and have IT change it to hiragana/katakana/kanji I want to write it myself without going to new tabs in my browser etc. to copy paste the characters down one by one. So what I did is I downloaded the Japanese keyboard... IT'S SUPER HARD! Z is つ and A is ち! Can anyone help me figure out this keyboard system so I can type without guessing which key is which like I do with the English keyboard? I need to see some order in the keyboard like how 3456 is あうえお But for some reason e is い instead of 4 and I don't get it... I'm sure I'll understand and be touch typing soon in the future but right now I have no foundation to start from and it's essential to know how to type since basically everything is online and all my sources want you to type things yourself when learning.

change your settings. it thinks you're using a Japanese keyboard. Happened to me before.

It's much easier if you use the Japanese keyboard that comes with windows. Here is a link that shows how to install it: https://www.tofugu.com/japanese/how-to-install-japanese-keyboard/
This way is much easier because if you type any letter in English it comes up in Japanese.
    For example: a = あ、i = い、chi = ち、tsu = つ

Thanks for the quick response! I'll try to download the windows one but I hope it still works because I'm on a chromebook which TECHNICALLY isn't considered a real computer at times.

Thank you thank you thank you! I changed it to romaji input instead of kana input and now I can write ha and get は!!!
