I've realised a fun way to get some Japanese typing practice in, by using typing speed challenge websites and selecting Japanese language!
http://10fastfingers.com
This site has a "Top 200 Words" and "Top 1000 Words" challenge tests for many different languages, the top 200 or 1000 words in the language. Japanese is one of the available languages. It shows lots a list of Japanese words which you have to type exactly the same on your keyboard. For Japanese this is quite a tough challenge, considering the words are in kanji and you have to know the readings, which makes things pretty fun. ^^

—Somehow I've scored higher words-per-minute typing speeds for Japanese than for my native language, according to the way that site calculates it! I'm currently on supposedly 69 WPM for English, but 82 WPM for Japanese (using kana layout input mode). :P
