Just a suggestion. Maybe have a requirement of level 2 for posting on the social feed. While some honest beginners might feel like this would make it harder for them to post questions early on I can't find peoples questions in the midst of all the spam. Another option would be to add a flag to accounts. I like this site and the community of honest study-goers but the spam is just too much.

Or maybe alternaively have users earn a certain amount of points before being able to post? (like partially towards level 2?) Or complete a couple beginner's quizzes before posting? Either way it seems like a good idea to bring up.
There have been similar suggestions to this before. I'm not sure about the requirement being as demanding as to reach level 2, but something along those lines would be a good idea. It just needs to be enough that bots can't do it automatically and too much hassle to be worth the effort to ad spam on here, but simple enough that complete beginners who've barely done any lessons can still post. Some new users have to learn both hiragana and katakana first, which means they will take a very long time to reach level 2, but they would likely want to post before this.
Maybe also still allow people to post without even having done any lessons or not having earned any exp, but instead place heavy restrictions on the number of characters per post and limit how frequently they can post new messages—just enough so that they can still post a simple message asking for help using the site if need be. But these restrictions will automatically be completely lifted once the user meets the previously mentioned very simple spam bot prevention requirements.
