Hey, I think Windows 10's Anniversary Update screwed up something for me because the font of this site looks like crap now. Just before I restarted to let it update it was looking fine. And now it looks like this (image attached). And it's only this website. No other website does this.

I tried to fix it to no avail, but I did find out that if I zoom in a lot (200% and more) it looks fine, actually even better than the previous font. But there's no point to that for me since it zooms in enough to turn into the mobile version of the website, and that's too big for a big screen. I admit that this font looks great when zoomed in at 500%, but it's unusable.

I tried using Firefox, Opera and even Edge but they're all the same. And there doesn't seem to be much about it online. Does anyone know what's the problem here?

    I tried adjusting ClearType but it did nothing.

    Does anyone know the default font for this site? Maybe the update uninstalled some.

    That's pretty wierd. I've just restarted my computer after the Windows 10 Anniversary Update but for me it still looks exactly the same as before—I checked Chrome, Opera, Firefox, Edge, and IE11 and there's no problem in any of them for me.

    The font should be the Windows Japanese font "Meiryo". The font displayed in your screenshot for looks very similar, but it is definitely not Meiryo.

    For example, the lower case "g" in Meiryo doesn't have a loop at the bottom, but the "g" in your screenshot does. And I can see a difference in the letters "a" and "y" too.

    In Chrome or Opera, right-click on any of the text and click "Inspect Element". On this screen, where it says "Styles", "Computed", "Event Listeners", click "Computed" and scroll to the bottom where it says "Rendered Fonts". What font does it say?

    It sais MS PGothic—Local file(808 glyphs). And the Meiryo font seems to be installed since it's in the font folder. Any idea as to what's going on?

    I found the font order:

    font: 12px "lucida grande", "ヒラギノ角ゴ Pro W3", "Hiragino Kaku Gothic Pro", メイリオ, Meiryo, Osaka, "MS Pゴシック", "MS PGothic", verdana, sans-serif;

    It doesn't seem to want to render Meiryo. Maybe installing one of the first ones will help?

    That is very strange. How about the Japanese text on the site, does it look normal?

    The Japanese text should be using Meiryo too. Try doing that Inspect Element thing on some Japanese text on this site. Is the Japanese text using "Meiryo"?

    Holy cow, I fixed it somehow. The website started going nuts and I tried logging off but it didn't work, so I deleted cookies again and restarted the browser and now it works fine on every browser. It also sais it's using Meiryo to render fonts.

    Really, WTF technology?

    Wow. That's really strange, how it randomly wasn't working in any of the browsers then all the suddenly decided to start working again in all of them. Maybe it was still updating in the background and was affecting what fonts were available.

    I don't really have any idea, but the main thing is that you got it working. ^^

    I'm sometimes blown away by how amazingly random technology is.
