I use Genki I, though I've found Tae Kim's Guide to Learning Japanese to be more efficient and friendly, and it is also free.
Yes, Genki is the best. I've mastered everything in 1& 2 and dabbled in the blue intermediate level book from the same publisher.
I have the very first book since I am still a beginner. I personally am not the textbook type so I don't have much of an opinion on it, but there is a lot of content and I think it covers everything you need to know pretty well!
