    Wow. That site is mind-blowingly awesome.Thanks for sharing it! ^^

    An idea I've had for a long time is for a site where video clips taken from anime are used to demonstrate example sentences for each vocabulary word being learnt. That site is similar to my idea but the way the've done it is even better!

    The thing I was worried about, if I ever started making it, would be about copyright issues and potentially getting sued. I just hope they never run into any problems, with their use of so video clips from so many major films and tv networks. Would be amazing if they actually obtained permission or just if the way they are using the videos falls under fair use.

    When I am right, using a short videos from movies, cartoons or other tv shows are legal. There are many Youtubers that help to learn foreign language and use such idea. And it is legal. But the only thing is, it should be short. It could be couple of phrases too. I don't know why, but everything is fine.

    This is nice! But I wonder how did they gather all the clips? Manually?
  • mog86uk
    @beeant, I wonder too. It must have taken an insane amount of work if they gathered 10,000+ clips manually.

    I tried the "speak back" activity tonight and it works so much better than I was expecting. I thought learning quizzes where you have to speak into a microphone were gimmicky and probably never work, especially with my less than crystal clear voice, but I got quite a lot of "perfect"s. I tested out saying random stuff or saying just one kana with the wrong vowel sound, and it picked up that I'd said the wrong thing.

    I don't know how often I'll use the site, as I like having music playing while learning (which isn't really possible when using that site), but it really is a very neat concept and very effective. I'm currently at around the 2000 score for all three sections. It would be nice to know what those numbers actually means in comparison to something. ^^

    @Lainanon, thanks for sharing :)
    @mog86uk @DragonR33U4 I was thinking about the copyright -thing also, but if it falls under "fair use" then I believe it's ok.

    I've posted a youtube channel recommendation here before (it's called Learning Japanese https://www.youtube.com/user/learnjapanesebod) who have done some lessons of learning Japanese through anime episodes with that method of taking a small clip from the episode and then explaining the phrase in it. That channel also has a very nice video playlist of grammar lessons, it's a very good learning resource. :)

    @Acidron This is a cool youtube channel. Somehow he did pretty fast progress. It will be interesting to see what he did there and to hear more about the different ways how to learn Japanese.
