Could you elaborate a bit on why you didn't like Genki? I'm the same as you, I tried Genki but got bored of it quickly and after a while just went with Tae Kim's Grammar Guide. I wanna know other people's opinion on Genki for reference when suggesting resources to other people.
I didn't feel as if I was really moving forward in my studies, Tae Kim's guide just seems more effective to me.
Same as the above comment, i diddnt feel Like i was getting somewhere and i like THe way Tae Kim helps to learn kanji With vocab- I also bought his book
