Yeah, it was a feature on the previous version of this site.
There used to be a "Challenge" button on user profile pages. Clicking this button would give you a quiz to answer something like 10 Practice questions as quickly as possible. And at the same time it sent a Challenge Request notification to the user whom you challenged.
Then the challenged user would either accept or decline the challenge. If they accept it, then they are given a quiz where they have to try and answer 10 Practice questions quicker than the other user did.
After both users had done the quiz, then it record on their profile pages who had won and who lost, and what their times were. As you can see on my profile page I only did two challenges (and lost both times!), so I can't be sure if I'm remembering it accurately. But it was very biased against people with slower laggier internet connections (like I had at the time), where they might not even be able to load 10 questions within a minute, let alone answer them... :/
Supposedly, when this version of the site came online almost three years ago(?), the Challenge feature would only be gone temporarily (hence why the records of it still exist in the profile pages). At the time Beeant planned to re-implement it at a later date. ^^
