- Hello! I'm a beginner with Japanese. So I'd like to know too! LOLMarch 28, 2017 at 11:38pm
- Hi, i'm beginner with Japanese like kibou24 too, this web really help me to remember kotoba!March 29, 2017 at 12:22am
- They do study, but it means nothing. That all studying is not even 40-50% of what people need in Japan, so nothing special. Most of people give up after couple of months, some after couple of years even without reaching the middle level. That is all. =DMarch 29, 2017 at 1:25am
- And some reach mid-level and can't stop due to "I'm this far, there is no surrender and no retreat now".March 29, 2017 at 2:54am
- Meanwhile: I'm curious how japanese people approach learning foreign languages ─ besides English 😄March 29, 2017 at 3:13am
- Then there is people like me that refuse to give up but don't make much progress...March 29, 2017 at 8:01am
- arbalasquide, how long did it take you to get this far?March 29, 2017 at 8:26am
- I think most people have no idea what they're doing (myself included lol). They just study randomly, without any specific method or goals. It's harder to study by yourself, and even harder when you're not constantly exposed to language that you're studying.
As for me, I used various resources and when I reached that "no turning back" point, I started to force that exposition, watching as many stuff as I could in japanese, listening to japanese songs, etc (which is what I'm still doing, mainly xP)March 29, 2017 at 10:16am - @Valentina6 I've been just studying without a schedule for like 2 years now and all i can do is basic sentences. But if you study with a schedule for a whole year, you can easily surpass me.March 29, 2017 at 11:15am
- @beee_17 not to mention the scarcity of good learning resources in our own language, which creates demotivation and raises that difficulty even more.March 29, 2017 at 11:24am
- I think it's important to not think you'll be done completely with studying a language after finishing all the lessons on a site like this. It'll never end. For example: I had my english skills tested here in germany and was told that my english skills come close to those of a native speaker, but I'm not fluent at all and I don't think I'll ever be at a point where I'd consider myself fluent.
JCJP sure helps a lot, even if you have to translate some stuff or do some research on the kanji, since some of them are explained poorly or plain false. But it's great to have this community since most of the people on here are so supportive and nice. So basically you're not studying alone at all. But yeah it's hard if you're not surrounded and/or forced to speak the language you're studying as most of the language skills you have come from practice.March 29, 2017 at 3:01pm
