Bleh. This is one thing I'm not keen about with the SRS oblivion system.

I answered this 7★ question when I was doing random Practice only yesterday. And now today, right at the beginning of the session, it I've encountered it again. (7★ = 128 days until the question is due for review.)

When you run out of Oblivion items for either kanji or vocab, Practice then picks a non-Oblivion item you haven't answered for the longest amount of time (sorted in descending order).

I've been trying not to let my Oblivion list run out by limiting how many questions I answer each day. But yesterday I must have run out of kanji items in my Oblivion, so it gave me a non-Oblivion kanji question instead. The problem is that the oldest kanji question is obviously very likely to be the one that's closest to returning to Oblivion. And it was. This question must have had one day remaining until Oblivion yesterday when I answered it, then returned to Oblivion today...

So until my Oblivion kanji list fills up more, every day I'll have to repeat several of the previous day's questions. Even though they are 7★... ^^;

    I noticed this as well, so now I try to not review anything that's not oblivion.

    Although some extra reviewing never hurts

    @Kooko_smile, There isn't really any good way of just not answering them though. I've chosen to do 33 Practice questions each day, with the Practice settings set to: all levels 1~8; "kanji" and "vocabulary" question types.

    If I avoid the fact I don't have enough kanji Oblivion question by setting Practice to "vocabulary" questions only, then I'll do 33 vocab questions. If I do this, then in 128 days time I'll be in the same situation — I'll have these 33 vocab questions return to Oblivion that day and will probably not have enough Oblivion kanji questions once again...

    The only way to stop it turning into a never ending cycle is to keep the number of kanji and vocab items in my Oblivion list roughly even.

    (I guess there is one other alternative, where I set it to vocab questions only today but only answer half the number of questions. This way I shouldn't create an imbalance between kanji and vocab. However, that wouldn't be enough to do the 20 questions needed for attendance...) ^^;

    And extra reviewing is fine if the question is still like 1★ or 2★ (where it's supposed to come back 2 or 4 days later anyway, so not much of a difference and still being learned)... but for 7★ I think it's better to avoid repeating those questions too early.

    It's good the way that 7★ items don't repeat for four months (128 days), as it tests your long term memory really well and it avoids wasting time on stuff you already know. It's good when it works. ^^

    Hmmm... you'll probably have to accept the problem until either the system is improved or level 9 is added.
    And in the mean time it will only get worse because you earn more stars. :/ (assuming not all of your questions have 7 stars already)
