hello im new to this site could someone suggest the most efficient way to go about the learning process. i find it hard to relate the katakana and the hiragana any help/tips/tricks/method im supposed to follow? What is the relation between the two 'cause i have read many manga where i ahve noticed use of both hiragana katakana as well as kanji in the same phrase or sentence. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated :)

Katakana is used for foreign words that have made there way into the Japanese language such as 'te-buru' - table, 'tento' - tent, or 'orenji' - orange. I advise you to Learn Hiragana first, then move onto katakana. You'll have to come up with your own way of remembering them, some people view them as different things. I pictured the character 'mi' as a train and is how i remembered it when i started.

When you get onto Kanji then your really gonna have to make your visualisations work if you want to remember them all!! anyways good luck.
