Are you getting all those points from readings??
I don't know if it's just my internet connection but the reading quizzes seem to be going so slow for me. It would take forever.

    I've been having the same feeling, it's slow AF...
  • wigglysquire
    For real. Practice is like three times faster.
  • mog86uk
    Hehe. All that EXP really is from readings quizzes: 7 EXP per question (1 EXP after 29 times correct) and no combo bonus available).

    And yes, the questions load extremely slowly compared to Practice questions...

    I mentioned previously that I was using a "strenuous" and "painful" method to answer the questions fast enough to keep up. ^^

    I've been wondering how many Readings quiz questions I've been answering, as it's pretty hard to keep track.

    Last night I earned 16,000 EXP (minus 33-ish EXP from doing Practice for attendance). This took three and a half hours. My number of completed readings quizzes went up by 143. But I don't really know how many individual questions that took.

    16000 / 7 = 2286. However, I think I'm getting a lot of 1 EXP questions now. So I probably answered over 3000 Readings quiz questions in those three and a half hours last night.

    I think I've come up with a way to keep count of how many questions I'm answering now though. Going to try it out tonight. If this works, hopefully I'll also be able to find out things like my average EXP per question (I reckon it's probably getting as low as 5 EXP by now, and will only keep getting worse). ^^

    Haha good luck wigglysquire and mog86uk :). Btw mog86uk now that you have told your secret wigglysquire can do that too. It has been really fun to see you guys competing and now it's only gonna be more fun. Keep up the good work :).
  • wigglysquire
    Well, I still have a limited set practice questions that have only been answered 26 and 27 times. So I don't have to rely solely on reading quizzes yet.
  • mog86uk
    @Hielke001, I haven't really given away exactly how I'm doing it. I actually keep adjusting my method to try to find even faster ways (or, rather, ways that are the same speed but won't wear me out as quick). I kind of wish I could record a video of how I'm doing it, especially how I was doing it a few days ago, because it probably looks really crazy. Sadly I'm not experienced in recording videos and uploading them, and it's probably not a good idea to encourage people to try what I'm doing anyhow... :D

    @wiggly, I really hope you don't run out any time soon. Although it would be nice that I'd then be able to lower my pace and hopefully delay developing arthritis a bit. ^^;

    I've tried logging me stats for the first two hours tonight:

    1 hour: 6207 EXP; 1447 questions; (avg. = 4.29 EXP)
    2 hours: 11525 EXP; 2827 questions; (avg. = 4.08 EXP)

    Works out as answering a question every 2.5 seconds on average! I'm very pleased with that. But man, the average EXP I'm getting per question is worse than I thought, and seems to be dropping even faster than I thought it would too...
  • mog86uk
    Just realised I should have calculated the second hour on its own if I want to compare it properly with the first hour...

    2nd hour: +5318 EXP; +1380 questions; (avg. = 3.85)

    I hope I calculated something horribly wrong or recorded the number of questions I did incorrectly... The average dropping from 4.29 the first hour to 3.85 the second is very steep for such a short space of time. o.O
  • mog86uk
    I realise now that incorrect answers giving -14 EXP each are probably what is causing the average jump around so much. I did the first two hours back-to-back and made a lot of mistakes in the second hour due to losing concentration.

    3 hours: 17631 EXP; 4235 questions; (avg. = 4.16 EXP)
    3rd hour = +6106 EXP; +1408 questions; (avg. = 4.34 EXP)

    After taking 30 minute break, the third hour was much more successful with very few incorrect answers. I think I got less than 20 questions wrong. If I take away 20 wrong answers (20 * -14 EXP = -280 EXP), then my average would have been 4.6 EXP per question. ^^

    Wheee! Kowai! That's a crazy amount of grinding I'll have to do at some point if I'm going to keep up for the long run...

    Can we please NOT do this guys? Please!! o(〒﹏〒)o

    Bug @Mog, I think I figured out a good technique from your hints, so I'll try to perfect it by the time I need to rely on it.

    I didn't keep track of the math as accurately as you did, so I don't know how many answers I did for about 40 minutes but it almost got me 2000 exp...
    Maybe I'll try doing that one of these days to have an idea how much faster I can get...
  • wigglysquire
    Lol
    I'll consider slowing down once I have a screenshot of me in the #1 ranking.
  • mog86uk
    @Medyrius, Haha. I'm glad to see you're working on a contingency strategy already. I think you're a very long way from needing to grind Readings quizzes yet though, since you should still have a good 2 million EXP worth of uncapped questions available in the Practice feature. Level 8 kanji questions alone have a potential of 1.1 million worth of uncapped EXP.

    As you currently only have 77 Readings quizzes completed, it's unlikely you have many (if any) questions that have gone over 29 times correct. (I'm at 1449 quizzes completed. My most answered question has only just gone over 300 times correct. Based on this, people are probably unlikely to start reaching 29 times correct on any Readings questions until they've done more like 120 quizzes.) Therefore...

    2000 / 7 EXP = 286 questions. Let's assume there still were a handful of 1 EXP encounters and go with a nice round number of 300 questions...

    40 mins = 2400 seconds. 2400 / 300 = 8 seconds per question.
    My average for the 3 hours last night = 2.55 seconds per question.

    There's your target of how much faster to try aiming for. Hehe. :P
  • Medyrius
    Contingency is the perfect word for it! ^^
    Figured we're already out of the realm of uncapped questions for this new race, so I'd be naïve to only bank on that :P

    Wow 2.5 to 8 sounds like a long way to go o.O' I made a handful of tweaks since then though so it's probably not as bad by now...
  • mog86uk
    I've been making some minor tweeks too. The first hour today I managed an average of 2.29 seconds per question. ^^

    However, I realised straight after my last post that the way I calculated my speed vs yours wasn't very fair. For mine I'm counting incorrect answers too, as I haven't yet come up with a way to track how many wrong answers I'm clicking. But when I calculated yours, I didn't think about the fact you probably answered some questions wrong too.

    For the three hours (= 10800 seconds) I did yesterday where I answered 4235 questions, I probably got getting on for 100 of those questions wrong. Let's say I got 235 of them wrong, leaving me with 4000 correct answers instead...

    10800 / 4235 = 2.55 seconds per question. (correct & wrong ones)
    10800 / 4000 = 2.70 seconds per question. (correct ones only)

    Although that didn't sway things all that much, if you too answered say 20 questions wrong, you'd have needed to answer a further 40 questions correctly to make up for the lost 280 EXP. Just 20 wrong answers would put you at 6.67 seconds per question (correct & wrong ones).

    So unless you answered all your readings quiz questions correctly, it shouldn't be quite as extreme as my last post made it seem. On the other hand I'm still hoping to get even faster, maybe even down to 2 seconds per question. :D

    I did Readings quizzes for two hours tonight. For the second hour I decided to have a go at keeping count of how many incorrect answers I clicked.

    2nd hour: 6333 EXP; 1527 questions; (avg. = 4.14 EXP / 2.36 s.)

    I counted that I answered only 17 of those 1527 questions wrong, which is much less than I was expecting. If I take those 17 wrong answers and their -238 EXP out of the equation, here are the stats for only the correct answers:

    6571 EXP; 1510 questions; (avg. = 4.35 EXP / 2.38 seconds)

    So it looks like 4.35 EXP should be pretty accurate for the average EXP per question I can expect doing the Readings quizzes now. I wonder how much this will deteriorate as time goes on. It must be pretty bad for JACKBOSMA who has done five times more Readings quizzes than I have... I'm *slightly* less baffled at why his EXP is always deep in the minus every day now. ^_^;

    i cant get the incompleted readings completed!
  • JACKBOSMA
    844 incomplete readings
  • mog86uk
    @JACKBOSMA, Wow, 844 of yours are affected by that bug? I think only 35 of mine have that problem so far. If the bug were fixed you'd instead be on whopping 8,310 readings quizzes completed! Very impressive. ^^

    ↑ I remember back when you were first reported the bug that I looked into what the problem might be. In this post I said that I figured out what was causing it, but I've forgotten what it was now... Since I didn't really use the Readings feature much at the time, I tried to help you to explain your problem to Beeant as I thought it would be easy for him to see the problem if you explain it in detail. Now that I'm using the Readings feature a lot myself, I'll try to find out what the bug was again. ^^

    ↑ Looking through your feeds, I notice in the above post from way back in July 2017 you said your number of incomplete readings was "844". This is interesting that the number hasn't changed. This must mean the bug was an instantaneous event applying all users' already completed readings. Any readings quizzes people have completed after that date are bug free, which is why my number of bugged readings quizzes is such a low number compared to my completed ones.

    ↑ 2017-07-13 @01:33 am. This looks like the first time you reported the bug. So whatever event that took place on the site likely happened very close to this date.
  • JACKBOSMA
    yes its difficult. I need those points!
  • mog86uk
    Had to go find this post again after seeing my average EXP per question tonight. Bleh... In only 8 days it looks like my average EXP per correctly answered reading quiz question has dropped from 4.35 to 3.26 EXP! If it keeps dropping this fast, catching up with you guys is going to get a little tough. ^^;

    I may have to buy more RAM for my computer if I want to try going any faster..... Can't believe it's when using this website that I've come across the first time I ever wished I had more than the 6 GB which came with this eight year old computer. ^^;

    I've managed to reduce the strain on my arm quite significantly, so there's a chance I might be able to go a bit quicker now. However, I think a bigger barrier could be whether I can really expect my eyes to read each question and four answer choices any faster without bleeding... xD
  • Yoshipon
    WOW I didn't think this competition would become a physical strain

    The battle to the top will be won through blood, sweat, and tears.
  • mog86uk
    ~110 Readings article quizzes = ~2700 questions = 5086 EXP.

    I'm getting less than 2 EXP per question now. Took two hours to do the above, just for 5k EXP... ^^;
  • wigglysquire
    Just hang in there until level 9 is available
  • wigglysquire
    That'll be your chance to say up all night and be the first one to reach 12 million points
  • Medyrius
    Only 28 level 8 users to level 9... Doesn't seem like a lot... :D
  • mog86uk
    @Medyrius, Wow, we're at 478/500 level 8 users now? That went up a bit quicker than I expected. Between the three of us we could probably get 28 fresh accounts up to level 8 within a couple of weeks. Level 8 is only 270k EXP, which can be done in just 2,414 Practice questions if all answered in one long combo. :P

    (Well, if the site was running at normal speed anyway. Recently the Practice feature seems to be frequently taking a good 10 seconds to load the next question... Wouldn't be much fun right now.) ^^;
  • mog86uk
    Oops. I meant to write 472/500 level 8 users, not 478.. ^^;
  • Medyrius
    @Mog I'd be totally down to try that, I'll experiment with my other account to see if I can manage with my time...
