    its possessive. "Watashi no" = "My"

    It's also descriptive, used to connect two nouns together. For example, "Mizu no Onna" translates to "Woman of Water." I suppose you could broadly consider the "no" kana as being possessive here as well; but at the same time, you could also consider them merely descriptive. So, it's best just to separate it into two uses that are more readily understandable to English speakers.
