I love living in Japan for so many reasons, one of which is that I can listen to the radio and while I'll hear English songs on occasion, they are generally classics and nothing to do with today's music. On the way to work today? Aerosmith/run-DMC "Walk this way". Nothing better to get me in a good mood for the day. Would love to introduce it to my students, or even teachers, but they wouldn't get SO much of it... :P

I am listening so much Japanese music that now I rarely listen to English, or even my native language, music and when I do I have a weird nostalgia (for songs I already knew). Nice song by the way.

Most, of course, of what I hear is Japanese, but I don't dig today's stuff in Japanese, that much, either. Slower stuff, older stuff, and some sneaky stuff that can totally blow the lid off at some karaoke parties where people think the only Japanese I know is "good morning" or "it's cold, isn't it?" (I'm from Canada, it is NOT cold, but by all means, for the sake of small talk, it's cold).

It was hard for me to get into Japanese music, I think that the first band I liked was Usagi (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyUKmFmHprU), they are not good, but I like it even today. I like mostly rock and metal stuff, but I usually don't like metal Japanese bands, so I try to go for rock, I found nice bands, of course, and now I like things I didn't like before. Anyway, perhaps I just don't know how to look for, I find better stuff as I get deeper though.

    Oh yeah. "It's cold"
Anything below 20 degrees seems to be sooooo awfully cold here. -.-
  • Darwo
20°C is great, I like when it is this temperature here. But where I live there is too much variation, I had experienced about 3°C and 36°C.
  • WingedLama
Wow...3°C. This will be my first winter here so I dont know how it will be, but I had to deal with 40°C in the summer. I was dying.
Personally I like 20°C too... but what I meant is that my japanese friends started complaining about the "cold" since then. And we are still debating.
    "寒い" - "寒くない" - "寒い" - "まだ寒くない"...

Just... give it up. I will concede that it is cold when you are inside and not moving. Why heating systems here need to be ridiculously ineffective is beyond me.

Yes, I have been wondering what's the most effective and efficient heating system to use in Japan. I used carbon heater but it only works when I'm about few centimeters away from it. When it's severely cold, I used AC but my electricity bill can go over 7000 yen for the month.
