http://snag.gy/VPJDe.jpg - Bleh. This is a major problem I'm trying to correct by using my typing mod. I have a bad habit of also remembering each of the three wrong answers for the kanji questions and sometimes click them without thinking. I managed to type もとす as the answer to 灯す, even though the answer choices are hidden, because that's the primary answer I remembered seeing for this question. xD

Supposedly 灯す (ともす) is a "common word", but I don't think I've seen it anywhere before. It doesn't look like there are even any example sentences given for it? I think I was partly thinking of 燃やす (もやす) when I typed the answer, but JCJP Practice is where my brain got "もとす" from... ^^;- Got caught out twice more tonight by exactly the same problem...
I typed "ふでしゃ" for 筆者 (ひっしゃ) earlier.
And just now, ridiculously I typed "けいてき" for 口笛 (くちぶえ)!! -- http://snag.gy/UInAA.jpg -- even though I can't see any of the answer choices. ><;
Occasionally one of JCJP's three wrong answer choices comes to mind slightly faster than the obvious correct answer. And when I'm answering fast, whatever appears in my mind first is what gets typed. Hopefully I can find a way to permanently erase my memory of the three wrong answer choices of each and every kanji Practice question. Slightly annoying side-effect which results from doing Practice kanji questions too much, but I can't think of any simple solutions to prevent this kanji question problem. ^^; 
Ah, the bane of many a JCJP user. Fear not mog86uk. You'll find a solution to this enigma. I have the utmost confidence in thee.

In Eijirou ( http://www.alc.co.jp/ ), 灯す redirects to the kana spelling ともす, so I guess the kanji isn't used very much. I think it was a simplified version of the kanji 燈. ともす is also spelled 点す, but perhaps that's considered a different word -- not sure.
