- Tell me fucking about it. I was slowing down these past few weeks so I'm gonna start from zero again soon. Actually, I'll start tomorrow. Fuck this shit, I'm tired of not making progress.
I've been "learning" Japanese for about four years. FOUR FUCKING YEARS OF DOING NOTHING, more like. Always going on binge learning sessions and burning myself out followed by a week of disgusting escapism induced avoidance, only to realise that I understand only about 60% of spoken Japanese and about 30% of the written head-munching conundrum that is the Japanese language.
Fuck this shit, I'm starting now. I don't trust that Tomorrow Guy. He doesn't fucking do anything. I'll go and start writing kanji by hand starting from 一。September 21, 2016 at 3:05am - Good luck! Consistency is the best way to learn anything :)September 21, 2016 at 3:16am
- This is hell, even Chinese is better and easier.September 21, 2016 at 3:47am
- Sometimes I wish I had never discovered anime and consequently manga, light novels and visual novels (although I fucking love hentai).
I want to read light novels and play visual novels but kanji are such a high hurdle and so early in the learning process too.
And my memory is shit. I can drill it in with repetition, sure, but I'm a lazy fuck as well.September 21, 2016 at 3:54am - It needs a lot of time to learn this language. So you decide what to do. Spanish should be even easier.
September 21, 2016 at 4:09am - Roman languages are easy as pie. I just wish I was born in Japan and then moved to Spain. I mean, I was born in Russia but moved here when I was 6 so I basically grew up here, but I learned Russian from my parents. I'd gladly replace that for Japanese.September 21, 2016 at 4:14am
- Well, French is hell too. With they Peugeot, Niveau, Pommes Frites and many other crazy words. In this case they are near Japan, but even they are not so crazy like Japan with 2 Alphabetics, Onyomi and Kunyomi. In Europe it could be 4 languages. Also German is a bit complicated too, especially Articles. They are very important. But it is very logical, so it is easier to understand. I can speak Russian too, but I would easily switch it for German haha =DSeptember 21, 2016 at 5:06pm
- The annoying part of French for me was the pronunciation, not because I couldn't pronounce well, but because I just rolled the dice every time I spoke in French and actually got it right pretty consistently, which my teacher praised and I was kinda disappointed in the language.
Kanji are just really annoying at the start. I tried to start with Heisig's Remembering the Kanji again from scratch yesterday but it's boring and I'm already way past that.
I decided to continue playing a visual novel in Japanese (with the help of ITHVNR and Raikasama) that I already completed in English: Hoshizora no Memoria -Wish upon a Shooting Star-
The vocabulary consists of mainly everyday words with some astronomy. And the kanji are easy to grasp. And while I go through it I'm adding vocabulary to the Anki deck created for this game. It works for me, since I'm shit at memorising stuff.September 21, 2016 at 5:35pm - I tried to remember the Kanji simply learning the words, but the biggest problem was that it could have 4-5 ways how to read it, what makes this method is very slow and not energy efficient. So I still have no idea how to learn them fast. I have had this Helming book, it is interesting like extra source or with some Kanji that really hard to remember, but I am not sure if with this book I can get all Kanji pretty simple and pretty easy.
Visual novel?? I have never tried something like this? What is this? I have never heard about Raikasama and Hoshiyora. This is some kind of books?
I use this method too. Instead of Anki i use memorise and quizlet. What Japanese level do you have?
September 21, 2016 at 6:36pm - A visual novel is an interactive story with graphics and sound in the form of a game. This is the game I was talking about: https://vndb.org/v1474 There are images at the bottom of the page so you can have an idea of what it's like. That website is the Visual Novel Database, you can check the information of most visual novels there.
I'm sorry, I screwed up that name, it's not Raikasama, it's Rikaisama and it's a Firefox extension that shows you what a Japanese word means when you hover over it with your mouse. There is a Chrome extension too called Rikaikun, it's pretty much the same.
There's a method where you play a visual novel and a program extracts the text to the clipboard. Then you use a Firefox extension that copies the contents of the clipboard to a blank page, where you can use Rikaisama to check the meaning.September 21, 2016 at 7:28pm - it looks great! I have never seen something like this. it can even replace Tv show! And there is nice and pretty rare Japanese subtitles. I have been looking for them since a year, and nothing! And here are you go, there are subtitles! Thank you! pretty interesting information, I would say this is what i have been looking for a long long time, how to make a learning process fun.
So when I understand right, this should start in the browser? Can I download these Novels from this Website?September 21, 2016 at 9:14pm - Hm... Do you have Skype? Or Discord? It's FelliVox everywhere. It's just that it's getting really off topic since Joker12332 just wanted to present himself. If you don't have either Skype nor Discord, you can suggest some other one you may have or we could just go to the chat of JapaneseClass.jp.September 21, 2016 at 9:35pm
- Yeah, we have got a lot of messages. It is already 13. Do you want to practice Japanese? I hear first time about Discord. What is this? Does it famous in Spain? Do you have Facebook?
September 22, 2016 at 2:52am - I sort of do have Facebook, but it's a page, not a private profile. Well, here goes: https://www.facebook.com/FelliVox/ I've yet to really use it but I think we can chat there.
Discord is a website/app used to chat worldwide.September 22, 2016 at 3:15am - Actually, let's use the chat of JapaneseClass. It's in the left sidebar or you can just click here: http://japaneseclass.jp/chat
Facebook is a pain in the arse.September 22, 2016 at 3:30am - Well, this is ok too. I have never use it before. But before I am going to sleep. So good night. Interesting what is the time difference between Spain and Ukraine. And what is your name?September 22, 2016 at 4:09am
- What is the picture do you have on your fb profile?September 22, 2016 at 4:13am
- https://myanimelist.net/anime/22319/Tokyo_GhoulSeptember 22, 2016 at 4:27am
- I got that picture somewhere long ago, can't even remember. The artist is practically dead, heard nothing from him in years. The time difference between Spain and Ukraine is 1 hour. I just work better at night so I stay up late.
And I'll never reveal my real name. Just because I need to keep my real life persona safe since my real opinions differ greatly from what the people that know me think of me. So I created FelliVox as the real me, the one not afraid to speak his thoughts. Actually, I'm pretty shy, so not having to speak my real thoughts face to face is a great thing. I love the Internet.
Finally, I wanted to start making videos on YouTube but I was kind of pushing it to a later date for some time, I have many ideas (most of them bad) but I didn't know where to start. And you gave me one, I'll make a video showing a simple way to practice Japanese reading with visual novels. I'll upload it after I'm done in a couple of days and post it here.September 22, 2016 at 4:32am - DF_Kiba what do you mean with this Anime? You meant this is the picture from this anime?September 23, 2016 at 12:48am
- I thought that this is an anime. Spain so far away and only one hour difference? Wow, this is not much at all. I mean. it is the other side of Europe. Pretty cool. I was attacked by spammers so after this I am pretty carefully too. Internet is internet, it is also pretty dangerous place, so i try not to get in touch early, except the person confirmation. Never know who it could be. Even the people that I know can change their profiles and then here you go a different person. It is pretty crazy. That is why keep safe in internet is very important. But you are not a bad person, spammer, or any kind of money hunting person that is looking how to trick the other people and get their money or information or any kind of fishing and spamming things?
Once one girl has find me here and she was from North Carolina, she said let's learn Japanese together, after some time... She can't speak Japanese and if I want more I have to pay. But pay for what?, she did nothing...
That is why it is very important to clear who is who. And one of the most important things, is this is a real man or a real woman who is like a real man =D And that is even worst than spammers ... =D
Your Idea about youtube is great. We can try to do something and maybe create a new anime novel that become famous. But this is too far away. First we need Ideas.September 23, 2016 at 1:08am
