I got a question popped up in my head and that is: why did you start learning Japanese?
Is it because you love to learn a new or other language? Or do you love the sound and would love to be able to speak it too? Or do you plan to go to Japan and because of that you need to learn? Or a other reason? Tell it :D

I myself started because I watch for years anime and the reason I watch it is because I love the language sound besides that I love the manga and stories ^^ I started learning with the thought of maybe going to Japan one day and hopefully the people are way better with respect to others then where I live now :D and I am also curious about their culture, temples and nature!

Maybe because I have Japanese in my blood. My country was colonized by Japan long ago, maybe one of the soldiers fell in love and married Indonesians and bore me eventually or they made me illegally cause you know exploiting slaves etc idk because sadly I love Japan more than my country :( should have backtracked my ancestors long ago who knows maybe Im descendant of Amaterasu who knows

long story short its because I love the way Japanese think, their cultures, their way of living their daily life and their overall life pattern and maybe all things there

    and also the 'freedom' hehe

    Hentai, of course.

I wanted to read light novels and visual novels. I don't mind reading subtitles and translated manga, but there's no way around reading light novels and visual novels other than using machine translations or learning Japanese. So I went with the later route.

I don't care about Japan or its culture. I just like the stories they bring to life and the art styles they use to convey them.

devan_desu wow thats quiet some story! Hmm yea the history wasnt great :/ though these days got better! Hmm that can happen if you love a other country more and maybe you can live there in the future!! Or just go there to visit :D

FelliVox thats a great goal!! Yea your right. I hope you like to learn it though because its quiet a journey ^^

of course @FelliVox what else could it be
@Neko110 and the other thing is watching their anime or tv shows, maybe they contain so much 'H' aspect and maybe offending and inappropriate dirty jokes, even strange things that literally shouldnt be done as a human being, but I can always take a moral value by watching them and they can reach my deepest feelings / emotions according to their intentional purposes (sad events make me sad, annoying circumstances make me angry etc)

I honestly cant get anything out of the tv shows in my country. they always say H is bad for young generations, smoking, harassment, bullying, beating up people is not good to be shown on tv! you know what? even giving middle finger on tv is censored in my country can you believe that? a smoking man shown at the background of a tv news report is censored and they say the tv shows must educate people. Yes they dont contain H but there is not even a single moral value I could reap and forget about bringing along together their audience to the flow of the circumstances let alone reaching my feelings; I really want to vomit

boring repetitive storyline, 600++ episodes of retelling insignificant things appearing in the show they dont even care it has gone far away from the title every episodes telling the same things only with different places and settings and no moral values at all and yet they say akb48 eating cockroaches is strange and inappropriate to be watched

I'd 100000% rather watch akb48 eating cockroaches than those 'educating' tv shows

It started with anime. It ended with hentai.

LMAO wiggly!!! For me I lived in Japan for three years. I already spoke Spanish and French so thought it would be easy. It wasn't and still isn't easy. I wasn't doing well on my own so studied Japanese in a Japanese university for two years. Now wife and entire social circle are Japanese so I need to continuously improve. Anime does help, especially with both Japanese and English subtitles- mine was Inu Yasha but now with the kids is Anpanman and Youkai Watch. Hentai unfortunately gets me thinking primarily about other things than learning Japanese so not the best study tool for me. :-(

I really love Japan as a country and I wanted to go there as an exchange student. One of the requirements was to have studied japanese. So I studied. It is super cool and interestening, and I like the sound of the language, but Kanji really made me wanna quit xD.
So when I came back from Japan, pretty much all my motivation was gone and I stopped studying. I just started reviewing it all and it feels terrible cause I have forgotten so much.
