平成が終わっても、続くといいな… - I hope this will continue, even after Heisei period is over...

日本は、今年、平成最後の夏になる。
This year will be the last summer for Heisei period in Japan.

元号が変わるから。
Because the name of the era in Japan will change.

なんでも、終わってしまうというのは感傷的になるものです…ね！？
Everything becomes sentimental when it's coming to the end.

私は、数年アメリカにいたのですが、米国から帰ってきてから、より日本の良さと伝統文化の魅力を感じるようになりました。
I lived in the United States for several years. But, since I came back to Japan, I came to notice the goods and the charms of Japanese traditional cultures more.

ところで、私の昔からの友人は、知る人ぞ知る、異端ロックバンド、「和楽器バンド」のボーカルをしています。
By the way, my old childhood friends are the vocalists of a heresy rock and, "Japanese musical instrument band".

彼女は、「wagakki」という単語を、sushiのように世界に広めたかったから、あえて、和楽器バンド、と名付けたそうです。そのまんま名付けたらしい。
She wants to make the word "wagakki" to be as world-famous as the word "sushi".

かっこいい！！！！
COOL!!!!

そして、琴を担当するメンバーも、私と同じことをどこかの雑誌のインタビューで言ってたのです。
The member who is in charge of "Koto" (Japanese harp), also said the same thing as me in an interview of some magazine.

彼も、アメリカに留学し、帰国してから、日本の伝統楽器である琴を習いはじめたそうです。
He also studied in the United States and after returning home he began to learn the traditional Japanese instrument koto.

また、私は、着物の着付け教室に通っています。
Also, I go to the kimono dressing room.

準師範を目指して、ちょこちょこ、先生の元へ…
I go to see my teacher every now and then to be a semi-master at this.

去年は、浴衣コンテストにも出させてもらいました。(先生のすすめで)
Last year I brought it to the yukata contest. (As suggested by the teacher)

それは、周知のことなんですが…
Even though everyone actually knows it...

これは、浴衣コンテスト予選会の時の写真です。
This is a picture of the Yukata contest qualifying session.

ただ、単に、自分の好きな柄の浴衣と帯を選んで着てみました。
However, I simply chose the Yukata and the belt of my favorite pattern and wore it.

ただ、不評だったのは、兵児帯、です！！
However, the unpopular one is the Hekobi!!

ヘコオビ、というのは、通常の帯の上に巻く、ヒラヒラしたシフォンのような帯のことです。
Hekobi, is a band like a shimmering chiffon wrapped around the belt.

コンテストでは、現代的な浴衣の着方をあまり好まないらしく…注意されました。
Judges at the contest appear to dislike my avant-garde way of wearing kimono and they pointed it out not to wear like this.

でも！！！
BUT!!!

歩き方などの練習をし…予選会は合格しました！！
I practiced hard how to walk beautifully with Yukata on...
And I passed the primary contest!!

次は、全国大会です。こんなかんじ🌸
Next step will be the all-Japan contest.
This is how I enjoy wearing Yukata!

メイクは濃く！！リップはハッキリさせるのが浴衣の時のメイク法…
When I wear Yukata, you should make your makeup heavier and your lipstick more vivid than normal!

おかげで、だいぶケバい様子…w
It makes me look so flashy though lol

それはさておき、浴衣を着ると何故か背筋がピンとなる。おしとやかになる。
By the way, wearing Yukata straighten my back and make me more Japanese-ish girl.

平成最後の夏も、私は、大和撫子を楽しみます。
I decided to spend the last year as Heisei(Current era name and is slated to change next year) being a Yamatonadeshiko girl.

世界が欧米化され、個時主義思想が蔓延し、思いやりとかが古い言葉になりつつある…そんな転換期な日本かもしれないけど…
The world is more and more Europeanized and individualism is prevailing now, making the beautiful notion as a Japanese such as "thoughtfulness" obsolete.
Maybe now is the watershed in the history of Japan.

でも、ずーっと、日本人の優しさや、甘えの文化かは続きますように☆彡.。
However, I still hope that Japanese people still like our culture such as "kindness" or "relying on someone".

伝統文化も引き継がれますように☆彡.。
Long live Japanese tradition!
