茅ケ崎市は２６日、市指定天然記念物の同市小和田のタブノキが、老朽化で倒れる危険性があるとして、所有者に伐採されたと発表した。所有者は「大枝の落下が絶えない」などと市文化財の指定解除を市教委に要望し、年内の伐採も連絡していたが、市の対応が遅れたという。

島田市の智満寺にある国の天然記念物で樹齢８００年を超えるとされる「頼朝杉」が倒れていることが７日、分かった。 頼朝杉は「智満寺の十本杉」のうちの一本で、源頼朝が手植えしたと伝えられている。智満寺本堂の西に立っており、高さは約３６メートル。

島田市は７日、同市千葉の智満寺付近にある国指定天然記念物「智満寺の十本杉」のうち、樹齢８００年以上と推定される「頼朝杉(よりともすぎ)」が根元から折れたと発表した。老齢化が原因とみられる。 倒れた頼朝杉は高さ３６メートル、直径約３メートル。
