In vocabulary level 1 chapter 8, the word for looking is miru. However, in anime I've heard it said mite. What is the difference between the two? Also how do you guys write kana and kanji in these posts?

    kore wo mite!* As for your second question, I don't know what you're using; but whether you're using a Windows or Mac, go to the languages settings. You should be able to figure it out from there!

    Miru 見る is indeed the dictionary form. Mite 見て is the conjugation to the te form, which is used for many things. In this case, it's probably part of the request conjugation. It's the abbreviation for mitekudasai 見てください, where the kudasai is frequently dropped in casual conversation.

    Usually, the lessons here will teach you the dictionary form for verbs, but once in a while it'll throw an odd conjugation at you for some reason. I really need to start writing those down for beeant to correct.
