Can someone explain how the kanji lessons work. Am I only tested on the kunyomi? If so then what is the point of onyomi? Also the kunyomi has kana preceded by a - for example -り, -と for 人. What does the - represent?

When reviewing the kanji for a given chapter, you'll notice that there are examples of words that contain the kanji in question. These are generally where the onyomi readings will come into play and the chapter quiz will often mix a few in to test your knowledge of the different readings a certain kanji can have. As for the "-" thing; for that example it seems like the dash indicates something specific should come before the kanji when using that reading. I believe -と is some type of suffix and -り is including when specifically counting people.

Thank you for replying. I have to admit, kanji is quite a challenge but I seem to have gotten through the first 2 chapters. The kanji in chapter 3 looks tough though.
