- 建物 (tatemono)
These are interchangeable, right? I'm guessing that using "建物" just seems more professional.

I think that usually ビル is for more fancy downtown buildings like skyscrapers and 建物 for standard stuff.

under "建" Kanjidamage says that tatemono is for every kind of building. I guess that biru is for 洋風 buildings.
