- I use that layout on my English UK keyboard, without any of the hiragana symbols written on my keys. :P
I wish my ろ key was where it is on a Japanese keyboard. Where "Esc" is on that keyboard, that is where ろ is on my UK keyboard using kana layout.
@katsuro, Do you actually use かな入力 for typing Japanese? not ローマ字入力? I heard that most Japanese people these days input Japanese characters using ローマ字入力 when typing on a computer keyboard.May 20, 2016 at 5:21am - This looks hard!May 20, 2016 at 7:05am
- yes hiragana is more used but there is away to switch to katakanaMay 20, 2016 at 9:12pm
- For really nice clear picture of a Japanese keyboard layout, not an virtual keyboard like that one but an actual physical keyboard:

I found this image in a post I wrote on here a couple of years ago, here:

As you can see, there are other buttons on many physical Japanese keyboards that aren't shown in that virtual keyboard picture. Some very intereting keys. I've remapped unused keys on my UK keyboard to have all those extra keys. ^^May 21, 2016 at 2:17am - @katsuro, Not really what I was asking about at all. I meant I heard most Japanese people use the input method of typing romaji on their keyboards which converts automatically into kana (ローマ字入力 "romaji input").
I was asking if your way of typing Japanese is by typing kana directly using the kana layout you showed in your picture (かな入力 "kana input")? ^^May 21, 2016 at 2:24am - I meant the layout is hard to typeMay 21, 2016 at 4:28am
