Has anyone tried clozemaster? It looks like a good website to reinforce reading, but I haven't been using it long.

Oh. That site is pretty neat. Seems the site was only launched a two months ago.

It would be nice if there were a few more options, like being able to disable the English translation only for the question without it disabling also for the answer. And it's a shame when you go on people's profile pages you can't really see anything interesting at all (I followed you btw. ^^)

I'm not too keen about how the sentences you are being tested on are taken straight from Tatoeba either, as they are often so far removed from being a literal translation. Like this one I encountered earlier:

    ジェーンは、白黒をはっきりさせる ___ です。
"Jane calls a spade a spade."

I understand that English expression instantly, but it makes you think the Japanese is using the same expression and it will probably be confusing to foreign speakers of English. It's just such an indirect way to translate the sentence. It seems more like the sentence was translated the other way, from English into Japanese.

But it is pretty fun with its simple game-like design. Thanks for sharing it. Can never have too many different resources. ^^

My wife and I were playing through it and there are a few sentences that she gets upset about. They leave don't include the proper particle (は、が、の、に、へ、を)in the sentence and that is not correct Japanese. (She is Japanese and is a Japanese teacher at Japanese schools.)

I understand what you're saying, shirokitsune. Is this because the site is trying to use more conversational examples?

I think so but I don't know where they are getting their sentence base. It would be a problem if they are using an algorithm to collect sentences online as there are many of us foreigners practicing and using improper Japanese.

shirokitsune, they are using tatoeba.org database(clozemaster chooses the missing words). As far as I understand from their video, tatoeba is translated by users. It looks like you can correct wrong sentances with an account.
