Japanese highway bus is evolving now.
Definition of highway bus is ambiguous. However, highway bus usually means long distance buses which runs from tens to hundreds of kilometers, they runs between cities.

In the past, highway bus was the symbol of cheap trip. The conventional high way bus looks like this.

As you can see, seat pitch is narrow. You cannot lean your seat back well either.
There is a toilet inside sometimes, but often very dirty.
However, situation is changing now. Some bus production companies started to make high end luxurious highway buses.

DREAM SLEEPER is operated between Yokohama and Hiroshima everyday.

DREAM SLEEPER is designed to make perfectly comfortable highway bus experience.
Only 14 seats are disposed in this bus.
If you get on DREAM SLEEPER, you don't even the existence of neighborhood.
Each seats are separated with partitions and curtains.

Hakata Go runs between Tokyo and Hakata everyday.
This car was renovated on Dec 2014.
The hallmark of Hakata Go is the 4 premium seats.
Even though, seat pitch is a little bit narrow compared with DREAM SLEEPER, however this premium seat holds body so comfortably.
You can also recline the seats deeply and it allows you to sleep well/

Behind Premium seats, there are 16 business seats that are still far more comfortable than ordinary highway bus.

The last raw is lady seats.

My Flora is a special highway bus which runs between Kajibashi Parking nearby Tokyo station to Tokushima Station.

The biggest hallmark is of My Flora is that a single room is disposed for each seats.
The seat pitch is 70cm width. And there are only 12 seats in the bus.
Entire floor is covered with carpets.
The toilet is very big enough to change your clothing.
