- If it's really pronounced いしけん, why do all the online dictionaries seem to say せっけん still? 「いしけん」search term comes up with "found 0 results" for me. (I might have misunderstood what you wrote.)May 8, 2014 at 12:15am
- アァ I already realise I've read what you said wrong... bleh. ^^;May 8, 2014 at 12:30am
- What exactly tripped you up?May 8, 2014 at 10:28am
- Well, I read the first sentence and immediately decided I knew what it meant: You have 'found an error' and it's the 'first' one you've found.
However, at the time, when I was reading the second sentence, I had of forgotten that JCJP has click-able audio pronunciation of words (as I rarely use them). I read '発音' and thought by this that you must mean readings--which are like pronunciation.
So I thought: You must be doing Practice, then came across 石鹸 kanji question, for which you clicked 'いしけん' as the answer choice. However, it then said that this was incorrect and that it wanted 'せっけん' instead, and you disagreed with this being the correct answer...
I had woken up late and was getting a bit late for work, so I only read it quickly at first. It didn't feel like I had read it correctly, and I hinted this at the end of my comment.
Just as I was about to shut down and leave for work, I re-read what you wrote, and realised the last part 'いしけん was pronounced (by it)' meant that my comment couldn't be correct. And then I finally remembered about those audio pronunciation icons... >_>May 8, 2014 at 2:57pm - Haha. It's possible I could've written it more clearly. But that happens to me all the time. I'm not that good with using passive Japanese, but I know it's used often in polite Japanese, so I tried to use it!May 11, 2014 at 8:45am
