Here I am texting all family members and my two favorite teachers telling them we're on the road, and yet I haven't told you guys :(
We're off to Cali :) ma didn't want to stay another night, so once the landlord inspected the house, we left. My sibs are asleep already, they get tired when driving. (better than the loud kids you mostly see in the back of cars screaming xD)
I'm up with my ma using the gps on my iPhone. Glad she bought a car charger......

- Do you know that your messages are going to the website's social feed? Thousands of people logging on and reading your personal correspondences... (Including me)?April 7, 2015 at 11:28am
- Not personal. I already know that.
I've already told everyone, just lettin mog know.
I've been on this site for months, I'm pretty sure I know how it works.April 7, 2015 at 6:09pm - I wanted to let you know what was happening from another perspective. Being on the site for any length of time does not mean that you know what others are seeing. I see a lot from you that does not seem to be directed at the entire forum. Just trying to help you direct your words to their intended recipients and keep yourself safe online.April 7, 2015 at 10:33pm
- I'm guessing you must be there by now? Hope things look like they're going to be better at your new place. Also hopefully you have better internet access to be able to learn Japanese more regulary on this site. ^^April 8, 2015 at 10:38am
- Is this like a blog post or something? why don't you try to write some thing like a blog post in Japanese? :)April 8, 2015 at 12:23pm
- misty, technically, when he writes a post to someone's feed, I still end up seeing it. Not sure there's a way to keep in communication here without anyone being able to see it, on the bright side, it doesn't seem like Kenji cares.April 9, 2015 at 10:02am
- Yeah, that feature of the site is a bit of an inconvenience. But if it's Kenji's intention...
I guess we will be reading a lot more of this!April 9, 2015 at 11:09am - I guess both of you also remember the site when you could comment on other user's profile pages without it showing up on the main page of the site. Of course, even back then it wasn't private, as anyone could go onto your profile page and view your personal conversations.
It was changed in this version of the site (released about this time last year--1 year aniversary yet?). I think the reason for this was to discourage users from just having private conversations between eachother instead of socialising with all the users on the site.
I think this "Social Feeds" main page is supposed to spam pretty fast with random things for everyone to get involved in. People can still have long lasting conversations by posting on the "Feeds" section on the profile page belonging to the user you want to talk to--just that these conversations aren't done in such a secret way anymore.
And people talk about more interesting, longer lasting topics using the "Forum", where the threads get bumped to the top each time a person replies (keeping the popular active topics at the top of the list).
And then of course there is "Chat" for extremely short lived but faster pace conversations.
I think the main issue is that people might not be using the different features in their intended ways. The social feeds probably isn't supposed to be something where people pay a lot of attention to every new post.
I do kind of miss being able to send the semi-private messages on people's profile pages, but I think Beeant's opinion was that the site shouldn't be used as a replacement for what "instant messager" programs and sites are for. ^^April 9, 2015 at 11:34am - messenger * --wow, took me a while to figure out what was wrong with that word!
Also, I wasn't trying to imply that people should not bother looking through new posts on the Social Feeds page. It is fairly good for being able to catch new posts from users whom you are "friends" with and for noticing interesting stuff people are writing on their own feeds page.
Maybe it would be cool if there was a section where it filters the Social Feeds page to obtain posts from users you've added as friends? Like "Friends Feeds" (or something less lame sounding). Might actually make adding people as friends a little bit less pointless. :DApril 9, 2015 at 11:44am
