Can someone please do down あります/います

and how it's used....I keep getting confused on it....

    Won't be 100% grammatical with all the right terminolgy and hope I won't make a mistake or confuse you, but here we go: あります denotes the existence of non-living things, います for living things. So 猫がいます there is a cat います because the cat is a living being and あります is wrong. Now 椅子があります There is a chair for a chair is not living あります. Both sentences can also means there are cats/chairs respectively.

    Keep in mind plants, although living, use あります, not います.
