Writing practice
Okay I may just be stupid or I just have big handwriting but I have to ask. I'm practicing writing kanji and I'm using a regular notebook, but when I write the kanji I run out of room. Example, I can't write the first kanji for policeman on one line.i end up having to use two because the kanji is so big.
Is there special paper I should be using to practice writing kanji?

This page has PDFs you can download and print out, with grids for practicing writing kanji.
If you check out the hiragana and katakana writing pages, there is also a blank writing practice grid sheet PDF you can download from those pages:

There are other websites with similar PDFs to print out, but I can't remember any more at the moment. You can probably buy kanji writing practice grid notebooks online somewhere but I've never looked for this. Hope that helps. ^^- The kanji caligraphy PDFs on this page are nice, tidy blank grids:

Obviously these grids are larger than how you'd normally write Japanese. However, I imagine Japanese on average would have taller grid lines in a notebook anyway than the grid lines in English notebooks (just guessing, I could be wrong). Also, handwritten Japanese is traditionally written vertically anyway! ^^
