7 days. One week. ONE ENTIRE FUCKING WEEK!!!!

It took me to finish fairy tail....:( I read so slow I couldn't keep reading after a while....

Let's see: I finished 8 volumes of Blue Exorcist (in English) in one day, 8*7=56...I think...

So 56 volumes of any manga I could've read....in the amount it took for me to finish fairy tail....

At least I know what I need to work on...

Did you translate as you went along? Or did you just write down vocabulary in a notebook or something similar?

No. I just read through it, to get familiar with the book....

I've been doing the vocab lists trying to read through SAO light novel 15. It takes me an hour to read something that takes a minute in English. It's very disheartening, hehe.

How?? I can't translate fairy tail.....I don't know what to do...Sometimes the Japanese words are written in katakana, and I suck a grammar.....

For a second, I thought you were saying I was a Japanese addict p.0

    Then I googled it....thx man...

Also, but what about grammar? Is there a grammar dictionary or something? Too lazy to check out the site, it's 1:15 am and I need some sleep...

I'm guessing you don't mean that you read all the 50~ volumes of Fairy Tail published so far in one week? :P

It takes me a LOT longer to read Japanese too. I could have read four or five chapters in my English bible in the amount of time it takes me to finish one chapter in my Japanese one, for the same chapter.

I bought the Japanese version of Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core when it came out. Whenever I thought about playing it I was put off by how much effort and work I knew it would be. It was exhausting to play from how much I had to concentrate on the conversations. Video games are what you do for fun while you are chilling out. When I tried to learn Japanese through it at the same time, it made it seem like strenuous work rather than a fun game. It is one of my favourite games, yet I ended up avoiding it so much at the time and didn't make it past half-way through the story.

Just saying that sometimes it's better not to try to mix work and pleasure. Play hard and study hard separately. Not saying at all that it's not a good idea what you are doing--it's fine if it's almost solely for study--just that I hope you manage to be able to fully enjoy the story itself and that you won't end up prematurely abandoning the series and missing out on the rest of it. ^^

For the most part, I won't play Japanese games too, if they're beyond my level. I play the Yakuza series because a) it doesn't matter THAT much if you don't catch all the conversation, and b) they take their sweet time making the English versions, and when they do, perhaps there's stuff missing. But for the most part, if the game is of a higher level than my Japanese is? No way. I do play a lot of Japanese learning stuff, though, which is embarrassingly enough for elementary and junior high school kids. Yay!

Which learning games do you play, Arachkid?
